Fri, 04/01/2013 - 17:27 -- Kerry
The Wildflowers Gardening group are on a mission to transform a neglected corner of Old Trafford into a green oasis

Wildflowers Old Trafford Gardening Group has invited everyone in the local area to come along and join in the fun as they embark on a new challenge in the community.

The small army of community volunteers have decided to embark on a green-fingered project to transform the central back alleyways of Stamford, Byrom and Prestage Streets into a garden.

They have already created four large planters, which they plan to fill with an array of flowers, trees, and shrubbery as part of an action day on Saturday, January 12, from 1pm.

Residents are being invited to come along, get planting, and tidy up the surrounding streets.

The event, funded by Trafford Council and Changemakers, aims to not only brighten up the derelict back area, but also inspire some pride in the area and tackle flytipping.

All are welcome to come along and join in the fun.
